Based on a Japanese magazine's rendering, IndianAutosBlog's artist, Shoeb Kalania, has created a digital mockup of the next generation 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser. As reported earlier, details about the next generation Land Cruiser are hard to come by, but reports say that Toyota has commenced working on it especially as the present day J200 Land Cruiser came over ten years ago (2007).
The next generation Land Cruiser doesn't look drastically different from the present day model. The lights, bumpers, and grille get a redesign, but the overall shape and proportions of the full-size SUV remain largely unaltered. The Japanese magazine reported that the next Land Cruiser will be around 4,950 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, 1,920 mm in height and 2,850 mm in wheelbase.
The highlight of the 2020 Land Cruiser will be its powertrain options. A 3.4-liter V6 petrol unit supposedly making 422 PS and paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission is in the offing, but most importantly, a hybrid Land Cruiser is expected to mark its debut as developed countries advance towards stringent emission norms.

Before the next Land Cruiser is due, Toyota will introduce special editions on the current model. The first of this is the Land Cruiser Grand Touring, which is set to launch in Middle Eastern markets in the coming weeks. It gets a more aggressive front spoiler, design tweaks to the grille and bumper and smoked headlamps. Before the discontinuation of the current Land Cruiser, a 'Final' edition could also be introduced to celebrate its decade-plus successful run.
Expect Toyota Kirloskar Motor to launch the next-gen Land Cruiser within a year of it going on sale abroad.
