India Yamaha Motor has silently increased the price of the 2018 Yamaha R15 V3.0 in India. With a price hike of INR 2,000, the new-generation R15 V3.0 now costs INR 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The company launched the Yamaha R15 V3.0 at the Auto Expo 2018, priced at INR 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company hasn’t revealed the reason for the price hike; however, it could be attributed to higher manufacturing and logistics costs. That said, India Yamaha Motor is likely to launch the R15 V3.0 MotoGP edition later this month.
The Yamaha R15 V3.0 MotoGP Edition features Yamaha’s factory MotoGP livery in the racing blue colour scheme. The MotoGP livery includes a Movistar logo on the side panels as well as on the front fairing, along with the ENEOS logo on the engine belly pan. However, the R15 V3.0 MotoGP Edition misses out on the racing numbers of Valentino Rossi or Maverick Vinales and remains mechanically unchanged.
The Yamaha R15 V3.0 takes design inspiration from the flagship Yamaha R1 and the Yamaha R6. The motorcycle features a faux RAM air-intake, LED headlights, an all-digital instrument cluster and LED taillights. The India-spec model comes with telescopic front forks and adjustable link-type rear mono-shock. Anchorage comes from disc brakes at both the ends; however, ABS is sorely missed.
The Yamaha R15 V3.0 employs a new 155 cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. The fuel-injected motor produces 19 bhp of maximum power and 15 Nm of peak torque. The engine pairs to a 6-speed transmission with a slip and assist clutch as standard.

The 2018 Yamaha R15 V3.0 features light-weight 17-inch wheels that run on MRF tubeless tires. India Yamaha Motor also offers an optional Metzeler Sportec M5 H-rated rear tire along with a Daytona muffler for track use only. While it doesn’t have a direct competitor, the Motorcycle rivals the likes of Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 and the Suzuki Gixxer SF.
