The 2018 Datsun GO+ that went on sale in Indonesia first has reached India for local testing. IAB reader Robinson Pe snapped the facelifted model’s test mule in Chennai last week.

Unlike the old Datsun GO+, the new three-row sub-4m MPV features alloy wheels.

Datsun has given the GO+ a subtle exterior refresh with its mid-life update. The facelifted model features a new grille pattern, reshaped lower grille, more aggressive front bumper, vertically stacked LED DRLs, alloy wheels, revised rear bumper and rear wiper. Alloy wheels and rear wiper are unavailable in the old model. Unlike the Indonesian-spec version, the Indian-spec doesn’t feature ORVMs with turn signals.

The 2018 Datsun GO+ has an improved interior with more amenities and a slightly more appealing design. Key changes include a new dashboard with a lockable glovebox, redesigned centre console, touchscreen infotainment system and a new instrument panel with a tachometer.

The new Datsun GO+ could have structural reinforcements for improved safety. To adhere with the more stringent safety norms applicable from 1 July, 2019, Datsun could make airbags, speed alert system, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder and rear parking sensors as standard along with the rollout of the mid-cycle refresh.

The current Datsun GO+ employs a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 68 PS at 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the wheels. An AMT option could help Datsun boost sales in India, but there’s no word on a new transmission option for our market. In Indonesia, the company introduced a CVT in the GO with the facelift, but not in the GO+.
