Last week, BMW Motorrad India launched the BMW G 310 R in India, and if that wasn't enough, just a day later India Kawasaki Motors introduced the locally made Kawasaki Ninja 300.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is not a direct rival to the BMW G 310 R; however, this comparison is merely pricing based. While the G 310 R is a naked streetfighter, the Ninja 300 is an entry-level supersport. The G 310 R is locally manufactured by TVS in India, while Kawasaki assembles the Ninja 300 via CKD units with some localized parts.
Interestingly though, despite its local manufacturing, the completely Made-in-India G 310 R costs INR 1,000 more than the localized Kawasaki Ninja 300. The BMW G 310 R is priced at INR 2.99 lakh, while the Assembled-in-India Ninja 300 costs INR 2.98 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The BMW G 310 R uses a 313 cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection that is tuned to develop 34 PS of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The motorcycle features USD front forks and an adjustable rear mono-shock while stopping power comes from disc brakes at both the ends with standard switchable ABS.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 sources power from a 299 cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, parallel-twin engine with fuel injection that produces 39 PS of maximum power and 27.3 Nm of peak torque. The engine syncs to a 6-speed transmission with a standard slipper clutch. The localized Ninja 300 features dual-channel ABS as standard and stock MRF tires.

Both the motorcycles feature halogen headlamps, LED taillights and standard turn indicators. The Ninja 300 gets a twin-pod setup for the headlights, while the BMW G 310 R features sticky Michelin Pilot Street tires.
