BMW Motorrad India has finally launched the BMW G 310 GS adventure tourer in India, priced at INR 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). BMW Motorrad India will begin deliveries for the bikes from early next month.
Based on the G 310 platform, the BMW G 310 GS made its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2018 alongside the BMW G 310 R naked street-fighter. The G 310 GS competes with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Kawasaki Versys-X 300, while it will also rival the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure. The G 310 GS and the G 310 R motorcycles are designed and engineered by BMW Motorrad in Germany while TVS manufacturers them in India at its facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
The BMW G 310 GS is available in three paint schemes, which include Racing Red, Cosmic Black, and Pearl White Metallic. While the company hasn't revealed the official number of bookings received for the motorcycles, BMW has received an overwhelming response from the G 310 twins. And while we are at it, here are the top five things to know regarding the BMW G 310 GS and the BMW G 310 R.
The BMW G 310 GS shares its engine with the BMW G 310 R and the TVS Apache RR 310. The 313 cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled, reverse-inclined motor with fuel injection is tuned to produce 34 hp of maximum power at 9,500 rpm while developing a peak torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm. A 6-speed transmission transfers control to the rear wheels via a final chain drive. The G 310 GS tips the scales at 169.5 kg, while it gets a top-speed of 143 kph.
The BMW G 310 GS comes with a semi-fairing setup with a beak and short windshield. The motorcycle features raised handlebars, long-travel suspension, a sleek tail section and die-cast aluminium swingarm. The long-travel suspension has resulted in a saddle height of 835 mm. The G 310 GS features a digital instrument cluster, a purposeful rear luggage rack, and LED taillights.
The long-travel suspension on the BMW G 310 GS comprises 41 mm upside-down forks up front and a preload adjustable rear mono-shock, while both get travel of 180 mm. Anchorage comes from a 300 mm front disc with 4-piston calliper and a 240 mm rear disc with single-piston calliper. The G 310 GS receives a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels setup.

The lightweight 5-spoke alloy wheels wrap on 110/80 R19 front and 150/70 R17 rear Metzeler tires. The motorcycle gets a steering head angle of 63.3° along with a wheelbase of 1,420 mm. The bike is available with a standard three years, unlimited kilometres warranty.
