The motorcycle rides on 41 mm telescopic front fork and a rear Uni-Trak bottom link monoshock with adjustable preload.

Kawasaki assembles the bike at the brand’s Chakan plant in Pune and hence is a CKD offering. Despite that, its prohibitively high price tag; and the presence of more value-for-money alternatives within the brand as well as outside the brand can be attributed to its low sales figure. The sales data is from the SIAM database.

In comparison, the bike is only INR 39,000 cheaper than the Kawasaki Z650, which costs INR 4,99,000, ex-showroom. Moreover, the Versys-X 300’s elder brother, the Versys 650 reportedly tallied 21 units in March 2018, showing a healthier performance.

The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is the most affordable bike in the Versys line-up. It is also Kawasaki’s smallest displacement bike in the adventure touring category. It employs a 296 cc parallel twin engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The powerplant makes 40 PS at 11,500 rpm, and 25.7 Nm at 10,000 rpm. The bike features a dual-channel ABS as standard. The only rival to the motorcycle in the budget adventure segment is the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
