As per Autocar India’s sources, Kawasaki is planning to bring the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R as Semi-Knocked Down kits (SKD) from Japan, and assemble them at its Chakan plant near Pune.
The website reports that the move will likely bring the price of the motorcycle down to below INR 14 lakhs. At present, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R costs INR 18.8 lakhs, ex-showroom. When it enters the market as SKD unit, it would be the most affordable litre-class performance motorcycle in the country. Currently, the cheapest litre-class track tamer is the Honda CBR 1000RR, which reportedly underwent a price reduction post the tax revision. The bike reportedly costs INR 14.78 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi.
