Last month, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota inked a deal to share their models with each other in India. The new agreement includes a Toyota-badged Maruti Vitara Brezza, and CarDekho has presented this model in a new speculative rendering.

Toyota-badged Maruti Vitara Brezza front three quarters rendering
Toyota will likely make changes to only the soft parts of the Maruti Vitara Brezza for its version.

As depicted in the rendering, the Toyota-badged Maruti Vitara Brezza would have most of the differences at the front. Toyota is expected to make changes only to the bumpers, radiator grille, lower air intake and lights. Sheet metal changes are unlikely as they would substantially increase the cost. Interior changes may include a different upholstery and Toyota branding on the steering wheel and in the infotainment system.

Maruti Suzuki will supply Toyota not only the Maruti Vitara Brezza but also the Maruti Baleno. Toyota will supply Maruti Suzuki the Toyota Corolla sedan. This will allow Maruti Suzuki to foray into the C-segment and offer a product that competes with the likes of Skoda Octavia and Hyundai Elantra.

Reports say that Toyota will supply Maruti Suzuki not only the Toyota Corolla petrol but also the Toyota Corolla Hybrid. The Toyota Corolla diesel's engine is not BS VI compliant, and this is probably the reason why it’s not a part of the deal.

The new shared models from Toyota and Maruti Suzuki will start arriving from Q2 2019. By that time or just a few months later, Toyota will have released the TNGA platform-based next-gen Toyota Corolla sedan globally. However, Toyota will likely supply the relatively low-cost current model to Maruti Suzuki.
