India Yamaha Motors (IYM) has reduced the prices of two of its CBU products: the Yamaha YZF-R1 and the Yamaha MT-09.
The Yamaha MT-09 has witnessed a price cut from INR 10,88,122 to INR 9,55,575, a difference of INR 1,32,547. The new MT-09 was launched in the country in November last year and is Yamaha’s only naked superbike offering in the country. It rivals the Kawasaki Z900 and the Triumph Street Triple RS. The price of the 2018 Yamaha YZF-R1 has gone down from its launch price of INR 20,73,074 to INR 18,16,192. This translates into a price difference of INR 2,56,882. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Yamaha launched the 2018 R1 in December last year. The 998 cc cross plane 4-cylinder engine is good for 200 PS at 13,500 rpm and 112.4 Nm at 11,500 rpm. It competes with Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, Suzuki GSX-R1000, and the BMW S 1000 RR. The MT-09, on the other hand, makes 15 PS at 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm from its 847 cc in-line three cylinder engine.
