As per a report from ET Auto, Hero MotoCorp will be focussing more on the premium 200cc segment and will be introducing multiple bikes in the next 6-18 months.
Hero MotoCorp recently unveiled its first premium 200 cc bike, the Hero Xtreme 200R in the country. Going forward, expect more bikes in this segment. The production version of the Hero XPulse is likely to be next. The bike will reportedly be launched in mid-2018, and will share its engine with the Xtreme 200R. Speaking to the media house, a senior executive said:
We have identified the 200cc segment as the main opportunity space for us in the highly-competitive but a rapidly-growing premium segment. Over the next 6-18 months, we will introduce multiple new motorcycles in that segment with very competitive pricing to aggressively gain market share. Going forward, we will surely be moving further up on to still higher engine capacity but that will happen gradually.

Speaking about the higher engine capacity, Hero is currently working on the production version of the XF3R. However, it is reported that the launch of the bike will not happen before Q1-2 (April-September 2018) of FY 2018-19. Hero will be showcasing the Xtreme 200R at the Auto Expo this month, where it is expected reveal the price of the motorcycle as well. The bike goes head-to-head with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V in its segment. Other rivals include KTM 200 Duke, and Bajaj Pulsar NS 200.
