Visordown reports that Royal Enfield is giving an ‘enormous focus on quality’ for the 650 Twins to make sure it doesn’t have issues like the Himalayan did.
Royal Enfield’s Head of Product Development, Simon Warburton admitted that the Himalayan had multiple issues which resulted in the bike being taken off the market temporarily to address the problems. Warburton said:
We recognise the need to improve from where we were. No question about that. The new factories have much better quality systems embedded in. The equipment on the line is better. The checks and balances put in and the in-house manufacturing processes are better. There's an enormous focus on quality right now. It's a really tough regime at the moment.
The Head of Product Strategy and Industrial Design of the company, Mark Wells said that they have improved vastly in the last 18 months; and that they are not burying their heads in the sand. Warburton also revealed that due to multiple issues with the Himalayan, its European launch got delayed. The brand has also taken down the promo video which shows the footpeg breaking off after the bike lands from a jump.

The brand has 120 employees at its Bruntingthorpe model development facility; and reportedly plans to add 20 people by the end of this year. It is safe to say that the new 650 twins will have a much better quality and reliability once it launches in Europe in April this year. Expect the India launch of the twins in the summer of this year, once the brand is ready to take on the production demands of the country.
