The tenth-gen Honda Civic arrived in 2015, followed by the fifth-gen Honda CR-V the year next. According to a report from Autocar India, both models will have their Indian debut at Auto Expo 2018 that opens Feb 7.
The fifth-gen Honda CR-V will only debut at Auto Expo 2018, with a market launch following in the middle of this year. It is the first Honda CR-V available in a three-row version and with a diesel engine. Honda will offer the three-row version and the diesel engine in India.
The diesel engine in question is the 1.6-litre i-DTEC TURBO unit that develops 160 PS at 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. A standard 9-speed automatic transmission and an optional AWD system are expected with this engine. Honda will locally produce the compact diesel engine at the Tapukara facility in Rajasthan. The Honda Civic will use a detuned version of this engine. Along with the diesel engine, Honda will offer a 2.4-litre i-VTEC petrol engine in the all-new CR-V.
The tenth-gen Honda Civic is the sportiest looking Honda Civic to the date, featuring a fastback styling. Unfortunately, India was probably not in the list of potential markets when Honda developed it. By the time the company has decided to launch it, it is near the stage where it will receive a facelift. Our market will directly get the facelifted Honda Civic, in 2019.

Honda will offer the new Honda Civic with a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a 1.6-litre i-VTEC diesel engine. Like the latest CR-V, the company won't offer the new Civic with the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine, as the turbocharged petrol engine is very expensive for our market. The 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will likely produce 141 PS and 174 Nm of torque. The 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine will likely develop 120 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Honda may offer the petrol engine with a CVT and the diesel engine with a 6-speed manual transmission.
