The Honda Amaze (Honda Brio Amaze) debuted in 2012 and entered the Indian market in 2013. It is about time the car undergoes a full makeover now. According to a report from Autocar India, the next-gen Honda Amaze will have its world premiere at Auto Expo 2018.
While the current Honda Amaze arrived after the Honda Brio, the next-gen Honda Amaze will precede the next-gen Honda Brio. Tata Motors used this strategy for the Tata Zest in 2014 and Tata Tigor last year, and Ford and Maruti Suzuki have done the same in case of the Ford Aspire and the latest Maruti Dzire respectively.
The speculative rendering above suggests that the second-gen Honda Amaze's front-end will have a design inspired by that of the Honda City. With proportions largely similar to the current model's, it may not look all that different from the sides, though. Inside, Honda will likely improve the quality of materials and the overall design for a more appealing cabin. The company will offer a touchscreen infotainment system in the Brio-based sedan this time, probably the 7-inch Digipad unit.

The next-gen Honda Amaze will likely utilise a revised version of the current model's platform as its basis. The 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine available in 88 PS/109 Nm version with a 5-speed manual transmission and in 90 PS/110 Nm version with a continuously variable transmission should continue post the lifecycle makeover. Honda may save any major upgrades planned for the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine (100 PS/200 Nm), which debuted in the original Honda Amaze, to introduce them along with the next-gen Honda City.
Market launch of the 2018 Honda Amaze should take place shortly after the Auto Expo 2018.
