The 2018 Maruti Swift will go on sale in India next month. Weeks ahead of the launch, Team-BHP member RavenAvi has revealed its main features and specifications.
We already know that the Heartect platform-based third-gen Maruti Swift is shorter, wider and lower than the outgoing model. The latest development reveals that the redesigned model is 3,840 mm long (-10 mm) and 1,735 mm wide (+40 mm). It has a 2,450 mm wheelbase (+20 mm). The boot space has increased by 46 litres to 268 litres.
Maruti Suzuki will sell the 2018 Maruti Swift in at least three grades, namely V, Z and Z+. The high-end Z grade will feature 15-inch alloy wheels, while the range-topping Z+ grade will have 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The latter will have LED projector headlamps with automatic headlamp function as well. Both Z and Z+ grades will feature automatic climate control. Other known main features of the next-gen Maruti Swift include pillar-mounted rear door handles, flat-bottomed steering wheel and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2018 Maruti Swift is said to continue with the 2017 Maruti Swift’s 1.2-litre VVT petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS 190 diesel engines. The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 84.3 PS and 115 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged diesel engine develops 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include 5-speed manual and, for the first time, 5-speed AGS automated manual. The company will offer the AGS option in both petrol and diesel engine models, in the V and Z grades.
