Expected to launch between Oct 2017 - Jan 2018.
Economic Times reports that the next generation Maruti Ertiga, which will launch sometime between October 2017 to January 2018 is codenamed 'YHA'. Following news reports on the next generation Swift and Dzire, its only natural to hear about the next Ertiga, given that the MPV uses the same platform as the Swift.
The report further states that the next gen Ertiga will get a new 1.5-liter diesel engine, a Suzuki-developed unit, and a new 1.4-liter petrol engine. The 1.5-liter diesel unit is expected to be a mainstay on all of Maruti's B-segment products, right from the Swift to the Dzire and Ertiga, to the YBA compact SUV (Note: On the YBA, reports say that the 1.5L diesel engine will be introduced during its mid-life facelift).
The next gen Ertiga will also get fuel efficiency enhancing features like the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) and a lightweight platform. Maruti plans on retaining its lead in the segment with the Ertiga, which sells an average of 5,160 units/month, but the newspaper reports the company will be looking at 80,000 units/annum (6,666 units/month) with the next-gen model.
