The 2018 Maruti Ciaz was initially to arrive in the first week of August 2018. According to several new web reports today, Maruti Suzuki has now finalised 20 August as the launch date.
With its mid-life update, the Maruti Ciaz gets several cosmetic changes, equipment upgrades and an all-new petrol engine. As spy shots have shown time and again, the 2018 Maruti Ciaz has a sharper front-end, more stylish alloy wheels and tweaked tail lamps with LED lighting. It comes equipped with projector LED headlamps, a feature already available in the Maruti Ignis, Maruti Swift, Maruti Dzire and Maruti S-Cross.
The interior of the new Maruti Ciaz is nearly the same as the old model, save for the new wood trim in a lighter shade, height-adjusting rear headrests, and a new instrument panel. Unlike the old Ciaz, it features cruise control.
The headline is about the K14B engine getting replaced by the all-new K15B engine. This 1.5-litre petrol engine, also a naturally aspirated unit coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission, delivers 104.7 PS and 138 Nm of torque in the 2018 Suzuki Ertiga (2018 Maruti Ertiga). A similar tuning is expected in the 2018 Maruti Ciaz. Maruti Suzuki will offer the SHVS mild-hybrid system in the petrol engine model for the first time chasing higher fuel efficiency.
As for the diesel variant, the Fiat D13A 1.3-litre, which is in low demand, will reportedly not arrive at the launch, and is to follow before Diwali. A new BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine codenamed ‘E15A’ is in the works and it reportedly will succeed the Fiat motor in 2019.
