Boon Siew Honda has launched the 2018 Honda PCX 150 in Malaysia, priced at RM 10,999 (INR 1.85 lakh).
The Honda PCX 150 is a maxi-scooter, first introduced in Thailand in November 2009. The maxi-scooter features a bulbous design with the large front fairing and the sharp LED headlamps and a tall windshield. The scooter gets a broader step-up seat and raised handlebars. It comes with an all-digital instrument cluster along with a small storage compartment below the front apron.
The Honda PCX 150 features an under-seat storage capacity of 25 litres. Honda also offers the PCX Electric in some markets. An all-new, lighter, steel duplex cradle chassis underpins the new PCX 150 that boasts of improved manoeuvrability and a shorter wheelbase. The telescopic front forks and rear mono-shock suspension setup and 14-inch alloy wheels, add to the premium feel.
The Honda PCX 150 is available in three colour options - Pearl Metalloid White, Radiate Grey Metallic, and Euphoria Red Metallic. The front glove box features a 12-volt charging socket to charge your Smartphone on the go. The Smart Key System incorporates safety features like anti-theft alarm and answer-back system, which lets the owners locate their two-wheeler from a distance.
The Honda PCX 150 employs a 149cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, engine that churns out 14.3 bhp of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 13.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine pairs to a CVT transmission with a final belt drive. Anchorage comes from a 220 mm disc up front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear, while single-channel ABS is optional. The PCX 150 gets a ground clearance of 137 mm and a kerb weight of 130 kg

With TVS reportedly developing a new 150 cc, maxi-scooter for an Indian launch in 2019, and the likes of Aprilia SR150, Vespa VXL 150 and SXL 150 already in the segment, HMSI's product planners will be watching this space closely.
