Hyundai Verna crowned Indian Car of the Year 2018

The Hyundai Verna has been crowned the Indian Car of the Year 2018. The Verna managed to edge out the new Maruti Dzire and the Jeep Compass to clinch the title. Hyundai's past ICOTY wins include Grand i10 (2014), Elite i20 (2015), and Creta (2016).

Representing Hyundai Verna, the winner of ICOTY’18, Mr. YK Koo, Managing Director & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said -

Hyundai launched the new fifth-generation Verna in August this year. Over the first two months on sale, the sedan managed to outpace major rivals Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. As of December 2, the Hyundai Verna had racked up 24,000 bookings in India. By December, Hyundai had exported 2,022 units of the sedan to Saudi Arabia. The new Verna will also be exported to South Africa, other Gulf and Asian countries 2018 onwards.

The Hyundai Verna retails in the INR 8.00-12.69 lakhs price bracket (ex-showroom). It is available with 1.6 L U2 CRDi diesel and 1.6 L Gamma petrol engine options mated to 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission options.
