The 2017 KTM 390 Duke has been crowned the 2018 Indian Motorcycle Of The Year, which was in its tenth edition. The 390 Duke managed to edge out the Yamaha FZ25 and Triumph Street Triple RS to clinch the title.
Accepting the award, Mr. Amit Nandi, President, Bajaj Auto & Head for KTM Motorcycles in India, said -
We are honoured that our motorcycle KTM 390 Duke has won the prestigious IMOTY 2018. Our R&D team has put in a lot of hard work in creating a motorcycle, which is not only performance-driven but also has the styling and practicality suitable for Indian riding conditions. Winning IMOTY’18 gives us all the motivation to put in more effort to bring more performance motorcycles in India.

The shortlisted motorcycles included the Hero Glamour 125, Suzuki Intruder 150, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Yamaha FZ25, Benelli 302R, 2017 KTM 390 Duke, Bajaj Dominar 400, Triumph Bonneville Bobber, Harley-Davidson Street Rod, Triumph Street Triple RS, Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin, and MV Agusta Brutale 800.

A number of parameters such as the price, fuel economy, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality, technical innovation, value for money and suitability for Indian riding conditions were taken into account. Based on the above criteria, the scoring was done, and with 107 points, the 390 Duke won the coveted award. The FZ25 and the Street Triple trailed behind at 77 and 68 points respectively. In 2017, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V won the award, and the Yamaha YZF-R3 in 2016.
