Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has recorded an all-time high sales figure of 13.5 lakh unit sales in September & October 2017.
Honda has broken its previous 2016 festive retail sales by 1 lakh units. However, the brand has witnessed 5.2% decrease in the total sales in the month of October, in comparison with the same month last year. The brand sold 4,92,237 units in October 2016, against 4,66,535 units in the same month this year. In the domestic market, the brand registered a slump of 7% (4,70,358 in 2016 vs 4,37,531 units in 2017) in the month of October, year-on-year.

On the other hand, its exports showed a positive growth of 32% in October, year on year. The Japanese brand managed to dispatch 29,004 last month as opposed to 21,879 units in the same month last year. The Japanese two-wheeler maker witnessed a growth of 14.95% year on year from April – October 2017. The company sold 37,95,580 units of two-wheelers in total. Commenting on highest ever retails this festival season, Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing, HMSI said:
The increased production capacity by 50,000 units per month ahead of the festival coupled with rapid network expansion, availability of models up to last mile network and 360 degree marketing push resulted in record festive retails. This festival, Honda has become the most preferred brand for million plus Indians. For Honda customers, the festivities will continue into November as GRAZIA- Honda’s brand new advanced urban scooter will be launched in India. So this November 8th, get ready to see the World in a new light.

Last month, Honda opened the bookings for the updated CBR650F. The company breached the 1 million sales mark in the same month. On October 25, the Japanese manufacturer opened the bookings for its new urban scooter, the Grazia. In the festive season, the Activa crossed 8.5 lakh unit sales; and the CB Shine touched the 2.4 lakh unit sales, both of which are record performances, claims Honda.
