Honda Activa has now become the only brand in Indian two-wheeler industry to cross 20 lakh unit sales in 7 months (April to October 2017).

The above table is a report from SIAM, which shows the scooter's contribution in the Indian two-wheeler market. Since its launch in 2001, Honda took seven years to reach the 20 lakh sales mark, in 2008. But now it has clocked 20,40,134 unit sales from April 2017 to October 2017.

Sales touched 55,000 units in its debut year. By December 2005, Activa’s cumulative sales touched the 10 lakh mark. In June 2012, the Honda Activa breached the 50 lakh cumulative sale milestone. Over the next 3 years, Activa became the first scooter to sell over 1 crore units. In 2016, it became the best-selling two-wheeler in India and the world, for the first time. Elaborating on the Activa’s achievement, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said:

Now, as scooterization has started making rapid inroads in semi-urban and rural areas, Honda is confident that Activa will continue to grow as the No. 1 choice of India.
In August, the Japanese company inaugurated its fourth assembly line at its two-wheeler plant at Narsapura, near Bengaluru, Karnataka. In September and October 2017, Honda clocked 13.5 lakh unit sales; and breached the 1 million sales mark in the festive season of October. Honda launched its sporty 125 cc scooter offering, the Grazia, this month.
