India Kawasaki Motors has launched the 2018 Kawasaki Versys 650 in the country at an ex-showroom price of INR 6.5 lakhs.
The 2018 Kawasaki Versys enjoys an updated long-travel suspension, and 17-inch alloy wheels for better all-round dynamics. The instrument cluster gets a gear position indicator; and the windscreen is two-inch adjustable, without the requirement of tools. The Versys 650, assembled at Chakan, Pune plant of Kawasaki, will continue to be available in same green and black colour combination. Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors said:
Kawasaki’s Versys 650 is a core machine in the mid-capacity sector, which has been in continuous demand in European market ever since it was launched in 2006. In India it has started gaining attention in last couple of years with increased number of seasoned riders. For Versys 650, India is a very ideal country mainly because of its diversities in roads.
Powering the 2018 Kawasaki Versys 650 is a 649cc parallel twin DOHC engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The powerplant is capable of generating 69 PS of power at 8,500 rpm, and 64 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The powerplant works in tandem with a 6-speed transmission.
A 41 mm adjustable upside down front fork; and a remote adjustable rear monoshock hold the high tensile steel diamond frame. For anchorage, the motorcycle employs dual 300 mm petal discs at the front and a single rear 250 mm disc, both with ABS. The motorcycle gets a 21 litre fuel tank, and weighs 216 kg, kerb. The bike is available from mid-November, and rivals the Benelli TNT 600 GT in its segment.
