After little success with the Tata Bolt, Tata Motors is readying a new B-segment hatchback codenamed the Tata X451. The Tata X451 was recently spied testing for the first time, courtesy MotorBeam.
The Tata X451 is still in the early stages of development and Tata Motors is yet to put the production model on test. The bonnet cuts suggest that, as speculative renderings have shown, the X451 will have aggressive headlamps. The car's greenhouse and roofline indicate that the company is trying to further evolve the 'IMPACT' design language. The Nexon is the last model sitting on the old X1 platform. The X451 will debut the Advanced Modular Platform (AMP) that will form a basis for a slew of other future models also for the brand. The scalable platform will help the company keep the development and production costs low.
The Tata X451 should have a length of around 3.95 metres, safely staying shorter than 4 meters to get higher GST benefit. The car’s engine options will likely include a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel units. Transmission choices should include both manual and AMT.

The Tata X451 is said to arrive in the first half of 2019. It will compete with the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. Production will likely take place in Sanand, Gujarat, where the Nano, Tiago and Tigor are built. According to another recent report, Tata Motors will showcase a pre-production Tata X451 at the Auto Expo 2018.
