Like the Mahindra KUV100, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT has a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. M&M will launch an automatic transmission option within 6 months, the company confirmed yesterday.
The company will offer the optional transmission in both petrol and diesel engine models. It extends a 5-speed automated manual transmission in the Mahindra TUV300, and we expect the same option to follow in KUV100.
Mahindra has invested INR 90 crore in refreshing the Mahindra KUV100. The company estimates the car’s monthly sales to increase by more than double to 4,000 units now. It offers the SUV-styled hatchback with two engines: 1.2L mFalcon G80 petrol (82 bhp/115 Nm) and 1.2L mFalcon D75 diesel (77 bhp/190 Nm). In a year, a zero-emissions pure electric powertrain will join the range, Dr Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra & Mahindra confirmed yesterday.
Back to the Mahindra KUV100 NXT AMT, the launch is unlikely to take place this year. The company has the Mahindra U321, the upgraded XUV500 and the refreshed Mahindra Scorpio lined-up for this year, which are higher priorities.
