Hero MotoCorp crossed cumulative sales of 70 million units in September 2016.
Hero MotoCorp is aiming to launch BSVI compliant products before the mandatory timeline applicable from April 2020. The company is also working on future mobility solutions in the form of electric vehicles, reports Business Standard.
Hero MotoCorp had in October 2016 announced an investment of INR 205 crores in Bangalore-based start-up Ather Energy. Apart from that Hero MotoCorp is also working on in-house electric vehicles.
The company at the 2014 Auto Expo, as well as the 2016 Auto Expo, showcased an electric scooter, the Hero Duet-E. The electric version of the Hero Duet scooter utilises a 5KW brushless DC motor and has been developed by Hero's in-house R&D team, capable of 14 Nm.
Hero also showcased the Hero Leap back in 2012 which is claimed to be India’s first electric-serial hybrid scooter, developed primarily for Hero MotoCorp’s international market. It employed a 124 cc petrol engine and an 8kW electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries. The maximum torque output was a claimed 60 Nm and top speed was pegged 100 km/h. The commercial launch of this vehicle has not taken place.

Hero MotoCorp aims to increase their international reach to 50 countries by the year 2020. Their recent new market entry was Argentina in January 2017 where they unveiled the all-new 2017 Hero Glamour.
