After launching the Aprilia SR 150 Race in February, Aprilia plans to expand the SR range of scooters with a smaller capacity model. IAB reader 'Autospy' recently spotted the Aprilia SR 125 on test in Pune.
The Aprilia SR 125 in the spy shot is disguised to look like the Aprilia SR 150. The design, body graphics, seat cover and grab rails - all look like those of the SR 150. The spotter claims that "125" was written on the exhaust. Previously, an R&D unit spotted with ARAI stickers had an "SR125" sticker on the engine casing.
The Aprilia SR 150 is powered by a 154.8 cc engine that produces 10.4 hp at 6,750 rpm and 11.4 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Going with previous reports, the Aprilia SR 125 will have a 124 cc engine that develops 9.6 PS (9.46 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 8.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. Like the SR 150, it will feature a 220 mm disc brake at the front and a 140 mm drum brake at the rear. It rides on 14-inch wheels and tubeless 120/70 tyres (front & rear), akin to the more powerful version.
