Honda unveiled the tenth generation Honda Accord in Detroit yesterday. Here's a visual comparison of the new Honda Accord and the 2016 Honda Accord.
The previous generation Honda Accord was an evolution of its predecessor. The tenth-gen Accord on the other hand, features a revolutionary design with a substantially different look. Honda has confirmed the axing of the coupe version, but has endowed a coupe-esque styling to the sedan with a dramatically arching roof.
Honda has applied the low and wide stance formula for the all-new Accord. The new generation's body is 0.59 inches (14.99 mm) lower and 0.39 inches (9.91 mm) wider. The length has reduced by 0.39 inches (9.91 mm), but wheelbase has grown by 2.16 inches (54.87 mm).
On the inside, the 2018 Honda Accord certainly looks more premium. From the sport inspired three-spoke steering wheel, to the soft-touch instrument panel, minimalistic centre console and floor console, as well as the advanced infotainment system - everything is up to date. Honda has retired the dual-display setup for a new 8-inch floating touchscreen.
9-lamp full-LED headlights, LED fog lights, LED tail lights, dual exhaust, 12-way power adjustment with height-adjustable lumbar support, 7-inch TFT digital display in the instrument cluster, 6-inch head-up display, new Display Audio infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, 4G LTE in-car Wi-Fi and 450-watt, 10-speaker sound system are among the equipment highlights of the 2018 Honda Accord.
With the lifecycle makeover, the Honda Accord has dumped the 2.4-litre four-cylinder and 3.5-litre V6 petrol naturally aspirated engines. Advanced 1.5- and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines take their place. The 1.5-litre engine develops 192 hp and 192 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The 2.0-litre engine produces 252 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. It is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission.
