Now on sale in Europe.
The 2017 Suzuki Swift was launched in Italy last month and is now sailing into more global markets. Here are the new generation model's images from what looks like its media event, courtesy Facebook group Suzuki Swift Mexico. Mexican Swift enthusiasts on Facebook have shared footage of the cars on a transporter in Mexico City signalling that the launch in imminent.
The 2017 Suzuki Swift is underpinned by the new generation Heartect platform that is 30 kg lighter than the previous model's platform. Thanks to the new platform and various other lightweighting efforts, the all-new model is 120 kg lighter than before. The 2017 Suzuki Swift measures 3,840 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,495 mm/1,520 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.
Internationally the 2017 Suzuki Swift is offered with the K12C 1.2-litre Dualjet and K10C 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engines. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit produces 66 kW (88.47 hp) and 120 Nm of torque and is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder unit develops 82 kW (109.92 hp) and 160 Nm (6AT)/170 Nm (5MT) of torque. Both engine models are available with the SHVS mild-hybrid system, but only the 1.2-litre engine model is available in four-wheel drive.
Full LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, pillar-mounted rear door handles, 16-inch alloy wheels, 4.2-inch TFT LCD MID, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink are some of the equipment highlights of the 2017 Suzuki Swift.
The new generation model is offered with advanced safety features like Dual Sensor Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control, all of which will not be seen on the Indian specification.
The intensively adapted and localised 2017 Maruti Swift's production will commence in India in October 2017 and it could be until late-2017 or early 2018 when the car is ready to see dealership lots. It will likely continue with the current model's engines, in combination with a 5-speed manual transmission and a new 5-speed automated manual transmission.
