MSIL today unveiled the 2017 Suzuki Dzire (Maruti Dzire) sub-4m sedan in Sydney Olympic Park in Australia for Indian dealer principals and retail managers. The car was unveiled during the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dealer conference.
The model showcased gives a better look at the new 'Gallant Red' exterior colour, while the communication colour for the Indian market is 'Oxford Blue'. The vehicle will come in six different exterior colours, including the mentioned.
The Dzire measures 3,995 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, 1,515 mm high and has a ground clearance of 163 mm, making it one of the smallest sedans in India. It is based on Suzuki’s 5th gen HEARTECT platform derived from the Suzuki Baleno, and is claimed to be up to 105 kg lighter while not compromising on structural rigidity.
At launch, the new Dzire can be had with a 1.2L K12B petrol motor producing 84 hp and 115 Nm of torque, or the 1.3L DDiS turbodiesel motor with 75 hp and 190 Nm of torque. Both engines can be had with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT, even in the top-end ZXI+ and ZDI+.
The new Maruti Dzire is confirmed to go on sale on May 16. Prices are expected to be INR 50k-70k higher than the outgoing car which ranges between INR 5,35,483 and INR 8,57,534 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Australian subsidiary has sourced vehicles from Maruti Suzuki, the Alto (A-Star) and the currently selling Baleno being main examples, but it is unlikely that the Dzire will be sold in the country.
