A new report on the Economic Times sheds light on the next generations of the Maruti Swift and Maruti Dzire, which are expected to launch in the Indian market in the financial year of 2018.
The new products, codenamed 'YSD', will be based on a new platform featuring a lightweight design, new engines, better fuel efficiency and will meet future Indian regulations for safety norms. Further, the report adds that the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology will be offered on the new Swift and Dzire with the 1.3-liter diesel engine, a unit borrowed from Fiat. On the petrol engine front, an earlier report said that Suzuki's Boosterjet 1.0-liter turbocharged engine, which is expected to make its debut on the Suzuki Baleno, will be seen on the new Swift.
