Jeep Compass receives 1,000 bookings in India

The Jeep Compass' bookings opened in India on 20 June for a token of INR 50,000, and Jeep has announced that the SUV has received 1,000 bookings already.

The Jeep Compass is available in three grades in India: Sport, Longitude and Limited. The Longitude and Limited grades have an optional sub-grade. Features like 16-inch steel wheels, electrically adjustable and power folding ORVMs, all-black interior, electric parking brake, 5-inch U-Connect touchscreen infotainment system, four-wheel disc brakes, front airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC and TC are standard. Moving up the range, HID headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, black painted roof, dual-zone climate control, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors, rear camera and curtain airbags are available.

1.4-litre MultiAir petrol and 2.0-litre Multi-jet II diesel are the engine options of the Jeep Compass in India. The turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine produces 162 PS and 250 Nm of torque and sends power to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission or the 7-speed DDCT dual-clutch automatic transmission. The turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine develops 173 PS and 350 Nm of torque and routes power to either the front wheels or all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The 4WD diesel model is fitted with the Jeep Active Drive 4x4 system with Jeep Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. Only the diesel engine with the manual transmission is available at launch.

The Jeep Compass is expected to have a competitive pricing of under INR 20 lakhs, thanks to 65% localisation (components). It will go on sale in a few weeks and compete with top-spec variants of the Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Creta and the Hyundai Tucson.
