Will be launched "in a few months."

Datsun has showcased the Go Cross Concept at Auto Expo 2016. The concept was unveiled last year at Nissan’s global headquarters in Japan during the Tokyo Motor Show. Vincent Cobee, head of Datsun Motors Global, announced that a model based on the concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 will be launched "in a few months" in India Datsun line-up to three models before the end of 2016.

The concept is based on the same platform as the Go+ MPV and is a adventure version of the same. The face gets sleek LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a big hexagonal grille, LED strips on the bumper and silver-finish skid plates. The flanks are endowed with flared wheel arches, plastic lower body cladding, 17-inch alloys and an aerodynamic roof rack. The posterior comes with striking LED tail lights, tailgate-mounted spoiler and skid plate. Additionally, there are some noteworthy design elements like separate round lights at the front, black patterned roof and muscular rear haunch – reminiscent of the Go+.

The Go-Cross Concept is purely a show car at this stage, but expect the showroom-spec Go-Cross to feature the 1.2L petrol engine from its siblings, paired to a five-speed manual transmission.

Presently, Nissan's budget brand sells the Go hatchback and its MPV sibling the Go+ in the Indian market. The India-built Go is also exported to Nepal and South Africa.
