BMW India has unveiled the India-spec 2016 BMW X1 compact SUV at Auto Expo 2016. It is available in four variants and is priced from INR 29.9 Lakhs to INR 39.9 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the X1 M-Sport. The new X1 is based on the UKL platform. It measures 4,439 mm long , 1,821 mm wide and 1,598 mm high in length, width and height respectively. These measurements make it 36 mm shorter, 21 mm wider and 53 mm taller than its predecessor.
Changes on the outside include a larger pair of kidney grilles, optional LED headlamps, revised front bumper, redesigned alloys, different tail light LED cluster and modified rear bumper.
The interior is a step up from the previous generation and features a flowing dashboard design. The cabin has been decorated with chrome, wooden and piano-black elements. The center console has a lesser button count and is now separate from the transmission tunnel.
The instrument cluster features two analog dials with a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel in front of it. The iDrive infotainment system comes with a 6.5-inch free-standing display on the dashboard but can be extended to an optional 8.8-inch screen with Navigation Plus.
The BMW X1 will offer an all diesel lineup. The 2.0-liter TwinPower diesel engine produces 190 hp/400 Nm in the X1 sDrive20d variant. It is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and comes with an xDrive AWD system in the top-end grades.
