Will be based on an all new ladder-frame platform.
According to Viva.co.id, the second generation 2016 Toyota Innova will launch in Indonesia in November 2015 or December 2015, following its reported global unveil this month. Viva is quoting its own sources with this information.
The 2016 Innova will ride on an all-new ladder-frame platform that comes in the new Hilux and Innova, and have increased safety features, which includes the possibility of having up to 7 airbags. Judging from various renders and spyshots, the second gen Innova will feature a revolutionary styling on a body appears to be slightly longer and more premium than the current model.
Power will be sourced from the new 2.4-liter GD diesel engine, which produces 150 hp and 400 Nm of torque in the 2015 Toyota Hilux. Apart from a standard 6-speed manual, Toyota will also offer a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
As for the Indian market, the roadmap is unclear as Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has just confirmed that it will not display the new Innova at the Auto Expo 2016. A recent media report had said that TKM is planning to manufacture 90,000 units of the new Innova in its first year, and fit it with locally made engines.
