The new Innova is reportedly heading for a global reveal this month.
According to a report on Gaadi.com, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will not showcase the 2016 Toyota Innova or the 2016 Fortuner at the Auto Expo 2016, which is scheduled to take place in the first week of February 2016. Mr. N Raja, Senior Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing, TKM, confirmed that the company will not showcase both models at the biennial event.
While the 2016 Fortuner was revealed in July this year, it is not expected to launch in India in 2016. According to a recent report, TKM is working on vendor development and localization of the new Fortuner which could take 24-30 months from its global rollout.
The 2016 Innova on the other hand is pending a global debut, though reports state that it will be unveiled in Indonesia this month. Part of Toyota's successful IMV (Innovative International Multipurpose Vehicle) family, the new Innova will be based on an all-new ladder-frame platform with an increased focus on safety. Spyshots have shown the MPV to sport revolutionary styling bits, and overall, the second generation Innova appears slightly longer than the current model.
It'll be powered by Toyota's new 'GD' range of diesel engines, though certain Asian and Middle Eastern markets will continue to get the 2.7-liter VVT-i petrol engine in addition to the diesel.
