Will be launched in India in the first half of 2016.
Indonesian news outlet AutoNetMagz is reporting that the 2016 Toyota Innova will be revealed in Indonesia in October. This is Toyota's third all-new utility vehicle for the Asia Pacific region in 2015, following the Toyota Hilux in May and Toyota Fortuner in July.
Citing a source from Toyota Astra Motor, Toyota' Indonesian subsidiary, AutonetMagz reports that the MPV will feature dual Airbags, ABS brakes and ISOFIX seat. The car will also be installed with a touchscreen head unit that is similar to the new Toyota Yaris or Toyota Rush. The launch will be held in Jakarta during a local exhibition.
According to a newspaper report this month, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is planning to manufacture 90,000 units of the new Innova in its first year, which equates to 7,500 units a month, or roughly 45 percent more than the current Innova’s sales (the Innova sold an average of 5,163 units/month for the last 6 months).
Toyota had made investments in India for a new engine plant, which will start operations next year. Located in Jigani, Karnataka, it is expected to start with the rollout of Toyota’s new GD family, that comprises of a 2.4- and a 2.8-liter unit. Only the former can be expected on the new Innova, the latter more suited to the Fortuner.
Sources told IAB that the new Innova for India will have a 6-speed torque converter for the diesel variant, and a 6-speed manual unit will come standard.
