Thai launch takes place this calendar year.
The all-new 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (2016 Mitsubishi Challenger) will have its world premiere on August 1, 2015, in Thailand, and the first teaser of the SUV was also released.
Consistent with our artist's rendering, the new 2016 Pajero Sport appears to feature a front fascia inspired by the 'Dynamic Shield' design, which is also seen on the facelifted 2016 Outlander. The Dynamic Shield design consists of slim headlight clusters and an X-shaped grille, and was first seen on the GR-HEV concept which debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
Based on the new Mitsubishi Triton pickup, the 2016 Pajero Sport is expected to be powered by the new 2.4-liter four-cylinder MIVEC diesel engine which develops 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque. This MIVEC diesel engine could replace the 2.5-liter DI-D diesel engine seen on the present model which generates 178 PS.
The 2016 Pajero Sport will continue to rival the Toyota Fortuner (the next generation 2016 Toyota Fortuner premieres on July 17) and the Ford Endeavour (the next generation 2015 Ford Endeavour is expected to launch in India next month).
