Indian launch will take place in the next financial year.
Indian Autos Blog had reported earlier that Toyota Motor Thailand (TMT) had scheduled a major press conference for July 28, 2015, to announce the new 2016 Fortuner. However, invitations issued for the world premiere of the "all new" Fortuner confirm that the event will take place on July 17, 2015, in Thailand.
The global premiere of the new Fortuner follows just 2 months after the debut of the new Hilux Revo, with which the Fortuner will share platforms and technologies. An all-new ladder-frame chassis with an increased emphasis on safety and newly-developed 'GD' four-cylinder diesel engines are the major talking points.
The 2016 Fortuner also opts for a revolutionary design with a Lexus-like front fascia, a 'floating' C-Pillar and car-like interiors. A free-standing 7-inch infotainment system, a multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel, LED headlights, 7-airbags, VSC and Trailer Sway Control are some of the features that will set apart the 2016 Fortuner from its predecessor.

The new Fortuner is expected to launch in India in the next financial year, but this time, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) would be making its engines at the new engine manufacturing facility near Jigani, Karnataka, thereby increasing localization levels.
