Design inspired by a battle-tank.
Based on the official design sketches revealed on July 30, and recent spyshots, IAB has rendered the production-spec Mahindra TUV300 (codenamed U301), giving a better look at the boxy design of the sub-4m SUV.
The Mahindra TUV300 will adopt a rugged, "battle tank-inspired" design that will appeal to the true SUV enthusiast. Apparently, designers have sought help from Italian design house Pininfarina for the Mahindra TUV300.
The TUV300 will be based on an all-new platform, the company said at the unveiling.. Under the hood, the TUV300 will pack a new-generation diesel engine dubbed as the 'mHawk80'. The turbodiesel motor is claimed to have superior NVH levels and performance than the current 1.5-liter three cylinder engine used in the Mahindra Quanto.
While it does look like a “true blue” SUV from the outside, it may not perform like one, as Mahindra are not offering a 4WD variant at launch. However, it is not completely ruled out, as a 4WD system is compatible with the TUV’s platform, and that Mahindra could introduce such a variant later in its lifecycle, should the demand exist.
The market launch of the TUV300 is confirmed to take place in less than six weeks from now (mid-September). It will also be exported to markets like Sri Lanka, South Africa, Tunisia, Chile, Nepal and Australia in about a year from now.
