Tucson to also be upgraded next year.
Hyundai, in a meeting at its headquarters in Korea, said it has plans to launch a "completely revamped" version of the Avante sedan next year. The vehicle, sold as Elantra in certain markets like India, will be accompanied by the next generation version of the Tucson SUV (called ix35, but not available in India), reveals Korea Herald.
The Elantra received a minor update earlier this year, and the next generation model is expected to continue on the same design overall. It can get the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 from the new Sonata, while improved interior and vehicle dyanmics are also expected.
In the executive sedan segment averaging about 300 units per month in India, the Hyundai Elantra has consistently been on the second spot, right below the Toyota Corolla Altis. It's available with two engine options: a 1.6-litre diesel that makes a maximum power of 126 hp at 4,000 rpm and 259 Nm at 1,900 rpm, and a 1.8-litre petrol unit which makes 147 hp at 6,500 rpm and maximum torque of 177 Nm at 4,700 rpm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes (both 6-speed) are available.
