India will get Thai-made CKD kits, assembled at the Chennai plant.
Ford has confirmed that the new Everest (new Ford Endeavour for India) will enter production this year at its Rayong plant in Thailand, and in Nanchang, China. The SUV will launch in key markets like China, Thailand, Australia and India this year as well.
Spotted in different colors, these units of the new Endeavour could be from the trial production batch, or from the late-prototype stage. Ford has announced three engine options for the new Endeavour, two diesels and a petrol.
The petrol engine in question is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit, while the base diesel is a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine. The range-topping engine is a 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel motor. The engines will be paired to manual and automatic transmissions, and depending on market requirements, the SUV will be offered with 2WD or 4WD.
For the Indian market, the new Endeavour is expected to launch by the end of this year with either one, or both of the diesel engines. It will be assembled at Ford India's Chennai plant from Thai-made CKD kits.
