Both made their public debut at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt.
The 2016 BMW 7 Series and 2016 BMW X1 have made their Japanese debuts at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, following their world premieres at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt.
The exterior of the latest 7 Series (G11/G12) is an evolutionary step ahead with modern elements and premium touches, but features familiar design proportions. It is one of few vehicles to offer optional Laser headlights, auto-parking assist, and a key fob with display.
It is based on the company’s next generation CLAR platform, and features carbon fiber construction. Inside, the 2016 BMW 7 Series has a familiar design, and comes standard with a freestanding touchscreen display powered by BMW’s iDrive 5.0. It supports air and touch gestures for the first time, and has the largest Head Up Display in any production car.
The 2016 BMW X1 rides on the FWD UKL platform. It features an evolutionary design that looks closer to an SUV than the outgoing model, longer equipment list, and an updated engine lineup.
Both models will launch in India in 2016, and have already been spotted testing in the country. They are expected to be assembled at the company's plant in Chennai, India.
