Public premiere set for Detroit next month.
Ahead of its world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show next month, the first images of the 2016 Audi Q7 have leaked on the internet.
Underpinned by the new MLB Evo platform, the second generation Q7 looks wider and sits lower than its predecessor. Insiders acknowledged that the outgoing Q7 was a bit bulbous, and the new Q7 looks substantially well sorted in comparison. Audi's Singleframe grille and redesigned Matrix LED headlights adorn the front, while the rear sees squarish taillights usually akin to Audi's sedan models like the A6 and A8.
A single image of the interior shows the vast step up Audi's designers have made, with parts like the steering wheel and instrument cluster (which is likely to be a fully digital unit) taking inspiration from the new TT. A retractable MMI screen, flush AC vents (that remind us of the new Passat), a throttle-like gearlever and a touchpad that would support fingertip gestures are seen inside.
Audi is yet to disclose information on the car, though reports have pointed out to weigh savings of nearly 300 kg, which should make the SUV more agile and efficient. Power is set to come from six- and eight-cylinder TFSI and TDI engines, and Plug-in hybrid variants are confirmed in the offing as well.
