In a series of GIFs that tease the upcoming 2016 Audi A5, a couple of them have revealed the design of the headlight as well as the exterior silhouette of the next gen coupe. Editing the latter image gives us a first grainy look at the design the new Audi A5.
The Matrix LED headlights are more angular and do not feature a kink like in the Audi A4's units. It has LED DRLs which are similar in design to the 2016 Audi R8 V10. The other teaser (edited) reveals the headlamps flanking a wide hexagonal grille, and a body that appears to feature sleeker lines. It is claimed to be more aerodynamic than the outgoing model that has a drag coefficient of 0.29 Cd.
The new A5 will ride on Audi's new MLB Evo platform that is shared with the new Audi A4. Expect weight savings of about 100 kg, thus improving fuel efficiency and performance. Speaking of performance, Audi will offer four- and six-cylinder TFSI and TDI engines from the new A4, as well as a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic as transmission options. Top-end variants will be equipped with the Quattro all-wheel drive technology.

Although Audi has only teased the coupe, recent spyshots have also revealed the exterior of the next generation Audi A5 Sportback, which was spotted testing in Mumbai.
