Only Coupe version to be introduced initially.
Audi has released teasers of the 2016 Audi A5 ahead of its world debut on June 2. The company has released two camouflaged test mule images showing the front-end and the profile, and a sketch showing the roofline of the car. There's nothing exclusive to see in these images though, as spy shots have given a clearer look at the exterior as well as the interior.
The Audi A5 Coupe will enter its second generation with an evolutionary redesign, as seen in the new teasers and a score of spy shots previously. The second generation Audi A5 Coupe is based on the same MLB-Evo platform as the saloon it's derived from - the fifth generation Audi A4 (B9). The all-new A4, introduced at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, is up to 120 lighter than the model it replaces, and based on that, the next-gen A5 should get a significant weight reduction.
Likewise the 2016 Audi A5 Coupe will be offered with the same TFSI and TDI powertrains from the 2016 Audi A4, paired with 6-speed manual, 7-speed S tronic or 8-speed tiptronic transmission depending on the model. The 2016 Audi S5 should be powered by the 2016 Audi S4's 354 PS (349 hp) 3.0-litre TFSI turbocharged V6 engine that directs drive to the wheels via an 8-speed tiptronic transmission.

The next-gen A5 should sport all the signature features of the latest Audi models like the Audi singleframe grille, Matrix LED headlamps, sequential turn indicators, Audi virtual cockpit fully digital instrument cluster, and MMI navigation plus infotainment system with MMI touch.
The next-gen A5 is expected to go on sale in Europe by the end of the year and in North America, as per a leaked internal document, in early 2017.
