Will make its world debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
A nearly undisguised prototype of the 2016 Audi A4 has been spotted in the wild by Ferd Fanpage, revealing the final design of the rear end. It is expected to be revealed to the media a few weeks before before its public premiere at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
As seen in the spyshot, the rear end features a new design that is in-line with Audi's latest design philosophy. It sports a sleeker set of LED taillamps, moulded boot spoiler, and a twin pipe exhaust system. Based on recent spyshots, the headlight clusters get a unique design – unseen on an Audi model till date - as well as the new Singleframe grille.
The 2016 Audi A4's interior will follow the latest trend opted by the Audi Q7 and Audi TT. Spyshots have revealed a stubby gearlever, a slim MMI display, a minimalist center console and a new Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster should be available on the top spec variant as well.
The 2016 Audi A4 is based on VAG's MLB Evo platform, and is expected to shed a sizable 100 kg over the outgoing model. It also appears to be a tad larger than the model it will replace, so that there is a clear distinction between the A3 sedan and the A4.
Audi has confirmed that a new version of the 2.0 TFSI engine will be offered for the 2016 Audi A4. It makes 190 hp and 320 Nm of torque, as compared to the 177 hp and 320 Nm produced by the same engine in the A3 sedan. It also boasts of a commendable fuel consumption of 20 km/l under the NEDC test conditions.

Other engines in the pipeline include a base 1.4-liter TFSI engine, top-spec 3.0-liter TFSI, a 1.6-liter TDI engine, 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI. Also on the cards are a couple of petrol and diesel hybrid variants featuring the 2.0-liter TFSI and 2.0-liter TDI, respectively.
The new Audi A4 could also scrap the multitronic CVT gearbox in favor of a new 9-speed automatic unit. As usual, a full-time Quattro AWD system will be offered as standard for top-variants.
Being one of Audi India’s key models, the new A4 is expected to launch in India within 12 months of its European market introduction.
