Splendor sales surged 3.5 percent in September 2015.
After a short reign at the top of the charts, the Honda Activa has given up the throne of the most-selling two-wheeler back to the Hero Splendor. Hero Motocorp had four of its model in the top 10 selling models for September 2015.
While the Splendor sold 243,188 units, the Activa registered a close 229,382 units. The Activa was the best-selling scooter by a big margin as the next best-selling scooter was the TVS Jupiter at 48,866. The two were the only scooters in a chart that is otherwise dominated by motorcycles. The workhorse TVS XL Super, which sold a remarkable 54,559 units for the 9th spot, recently crossed the 1 crore sales mark.
As for the motorcycles, the Hero Passion sold just a little less than half of the veteran Splendor at 108,395 units followed by the Hero HF Deluxe at 101,579.
The three bikes and the Activa were the only models to register six figure sales. Sales of two-wheelers continues to be in the negative and it shows in the chart, for four of the models registered in the red for this September compared to September 2014.
