Exported to markets in Mexico, South Africa and Algeria.

Launched in October 2014, Maruti has made over 50,000 copies of the Ciaz mid-size sedan, which is currently the second-best selling car in its segment. Apart from the domestic market, Maruti also exports the Ciaz to overseas markets such as South Africa, Mexico and Algeria, and has exported 9,000 units till date.

The Ciaz is available with a 1.4L K-Series petrol and a 1.3L DDiS diesel engine.

Of the 43,000 units sold in the domestic market, over 65 percent of buyers were existing Maruti owners, and 33 percent of them had a Swift or Dzire in the household. This, according to Maruti, iterates customer loyalty, which is especially important for the company in a premium segment like the Ciaz's.

Interestingly, 47 percent of buyers bought the Ciaz after exploring competitor models such as the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Polo and Fiat Linea. Sales of the Ciaz outpaced the Verna since the second month, and has remained so, despite Hyundai having launched the Verna facelift in February this year.
