Utility vehicle gets an upscale, car-like interior.

Toyota has posted more official images of the eighth-generation Toyota Hilux pickup, which made its debut in Thailand on May 21. The new images reveal the interior in brown as well as the standard black shades, along with the exterior shots of of the single-, double- and space-cab body styles.

The interior of the Toyota Hilux Revo previews the final design of the next gen Toyota Fortuner, which is expected to make its gl0bal debut on July 28. The Hilux Revo features a more upscale interior that is more car-like and better equipped than the utilitarian design of the outgoing model.

Few main highlights that one can also expect the Fortuner to get are the "floating" 7 inch touchscreen display with touch-sensitive buttons stacked vertically on both sides, new MID in the instrument cluster, a sportier multifunction steering wheel. It is also equipped with creature comforts like push button start, automatic climate control, rear HVAC vents, 60:40 split rear seat, ISOFIX point, 7 airbags and central armrest.

The latest Hilux sits on an all new platform that has increased rigidity and strength over the outgoing model.

The Hilux is powered by a new "GD" range of diesel engines, which includes an entry-level 2.4-liter four-cylinder mill is available in various states: 150 hp/343 Nm and 150 hp/400 Nm of torque, and a more powerful 2.8-liter diesel engine is also available with 177 hp/420 Nm and 177 hp/450 Nm of torque, depending on the customer’s choice between a 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Powertrains for the next gen Innova and Fortuner will be selected from the same lot.

Also available is a 2.7-liter VVT-i petrol motor from the outgoing model, which outputs 122 hp and 245 Nm of torque.

The Toyota Hilux may never be sold in India. However, the next Toyota Fortuner is sharing more than a platform with the new Hilux, and will make its Indian debut early next year.
