The next generation 2015 Hyundai i20 was spotted testing in Chennai recently by Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Vignesh Krishna. The car was spotted near Hyundai's Indian manufacturing facility located in Sriperumbudur.
These images reveal that the new i20 will receive LED lighting elements for its brake lights. The use of LEDs in compact cars is currently done by Nissan for the 2013 Micra and Mahindra for the Verito Vibe.
Codenamed 'IB', the all-new i20 is currently in its global testing phase, and apart from India, the car has been spotted in various locations in Europe and South Korea. Media reports claim that Hyundai will launch a performance oriented version of the new i20 from its newly found performance division called 'N' (N actually denotes Hyundai's Namyang R&D center).
For India however, we expect the hatchback to be offered with frugal petrol and diesel engines. In fact the diesel, a 1.4-liter four-cylinder motor, could be carried over from the existing model.
The new i20 is expected to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October this year, with the Indian launch following soon. It will compete with the cars listed below. Apart from the Nissan Micra, all cars listed below are either scheduled to be launched (Bolt, Jazz), or will get a facelift.
